"When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school, it's a wonder I can think at all/And though my lack of education hasn't hurt me none, I can read the writing on the wall"--Paul Simon, "Kodachrome"
Late 70s me in high school--I drew a cartoon anthro fox in magic marker, back hallway. Someone ratted me out and the vice principal called my father in for a conference (my mom had died some years earlier).
"The fox is a sign meaning 'you can buy drugs here'," he said. B.S. My dad got mad and I had to scrub my art away.
Just under 20 yrs later I discovered the furry fandom.
In my high school yearbook some of my classmates are seen wearing T shirts saying P.F.J.--as in People's Front of Judea from that current movie Monty Python's Life of Brian. One guy's favorite quote was "What have the Romans ever done for us?"
By '82 I got to interview Python's Graham Chapman on college radio.
"'E's not the messiah," said Brian's mum, "'e's a very naughty boy!"
